'Inland' Photography trick into UW Photography : Snoot and Reverse Ring

These two tricks are getting into my attention lately. Snoot and Reverse Ring....
'Inland' photography technique, thats how I called it, is getting more in more into UW photo...
Giving more flexibility and creativity in shooting UW.
I remember for example snoot technique has been adopted from 'inland' photographer for quite sometime.

To me myself....
No matter how late it is, no matter how simple it is... :)...
I think I'm the kind of person who will only move on to another equipment after I felt convenience with the previous one :).... So slowly is better than having a lot of equipment with none to master...
But even with this kind of attitude, I felt my list of equipment is still growing quite fast... :D.

I would like to try more stacked wet lens onto my camera, then also adding snoot, hopefully an DIY one... and the possibility to try and use Reverse Ring to my Oly EPM-1 camera :) (to hopefully the set up would not require wetlens for shooting macro....)

Basically, the use of Snoot will make your images look dramatic :), because the focused light (instead of wide) from the snoot will only enlighten a small portion of object that we as a photographer would like to highlight... black background is also an advantage...
The minus point is, as I previously mentioned, we are adding difficulties to our technique. because we need to adjust the lighting to an uncontrollable (mostly) moving subject compared to normal strobe that we had a wide area that we do not need to frequently adjust our strobe position....

The use of Reverse Ring...
As I said before, the "on land photography" technique is getting into UW photo...
You would find thousands of land (macro) photography using the reverse ring technique, but very few use it for UW photo.
The positive thing is, we could save a lot of money by using 'reversed lens' as replacement of macro wetlens(es), but downside is we will loose autofocus ability and also flexibility to use or not to use wetlens (by means of swing away adaptor holder for instance..).

But the result of using reverse ring is to have a lot of magnification even from a standard lens....

Got a lot to try...... so stay tuned... my journey is still a long long long long way to go my friends :).

Cheers !
